Il malware è semplicemente efficace. Si introduce all'interno di siti con un codice maligno che scaricherà gli smatphone che visiteranno quel sito.Un download automatico del codice stesso attraverso una procedura definita “drive-by download”.
Il malware si diffonde anche in un altro modo: l’uso delle mail, attraverso le quali sembra che si infettino in 20 mila ogni giorno. L’obiettivo degli hackers sarebbe quello di accedere a diverse funzionalità, tra cui spedire spam ai contatti, acquistare biglietti per eventi e spettacoli o forzare account di Wordpress.
Secondo la società Lookout, questo malware NotCompatible fa parte della terza generazione ed è in grado di generare una rete tra device infetti per potenziare l'efficacia infettiva e criptare le comunicazioni al fine di rendere difficile l’individuazione della fonte del malware.

Inoltre questo malware può generare costi in più per il possessore del device infetto, a causa dei dati scaricati dal web sforando oltre il limite di giga a disposizione.
