Saranno tanti i miglioramenti che il prossimo ormai aggiornamento a Windows 10 introdurrà, ma tra queste quella che più si attende, è l'innovativo kernel.

Facendo riferimento a quanto è scritto in questa pagina del sito MSDN di Microsoft, per l'appunto, il “centro vitale” del sistema sarà condotto alla innovativa versione 10.0, dall’attuale numerata 6.4. Ma fate attenzione a quanto è scritto: non ci sarà un cambiamento del kernel, che resterà basato su Windows NT, altresì si tratta soltanto di un aggiornamento relativo alla versione.
Successivamente al lancio di questo restyling, da Redmond partirà l'invito a tutti gli sviluppatori che si stanno premunendo a realizzare webapp compatibili con la versione prossima di Windows 10, oltre che modificare il relativo codice sorgente che è dipendente o che fa riferimento alla versione del kernel, aumentando il valore a 10.0 nel caso non avessero fatto riferimento alla versione 6.4 (che è quella in uso nell’ultima build della Technical Preview di Windows 10 numerata 9879).
Appare quindi molto probabile che la futura release della Tecnical Preview di Windows 10, possa già avere in se questa innovativa versione del kernel, dal momento che l’annuncio è avvenuto in forma ufficiale e pubblica.
Per il momento non è stato reso noto quali saranno i miglioramenti introdotti in questa nuova release del kernel di Windows 10, ma è quasi certo che questo aggiornamento sia stato deciso nell'ottica di unificare quanto prima tutti gli OS di Microsoft in un unica piattaforma.

Ricordo infine che Windows Phone 8.x è basato sul kernel Windows NT, ed è proprio per questa particolarità che Microsoft sarà in condizione di potere garantire a tutti i device muniti di suddetto OS la migrazione a Windows 10 attraverso l'aggiornamento, senza andare incontro a problemi di compatibilità o altre limitazioni, così com’è accaduto quando si passò a Windows Phone 7 che si è fermato alla versione 7.8 in quanto munito di kernel basato su Windows CE.
